PRE-CAST CONCRETE SOLUTIONS

Soncin has undertaken the casting of precast elements on various projects.  Those that are most notable are rail projects where precast elements were to be installed in short pre-determined rail closures.  Soncin had cast precast concrete tunnel sections for the Go Expansion of Oakville West, Appleby Line, Guelph Line, Burlington West as well as Paton Road and Holy Cross.

Soncin’s on site precast solutions ultimately save the owner money.  The handling and management of large heavy precast elements is costly. In many instances precast elements are cast in their pre-installation location minimizing double handling and saving precious time for the management of trailers in very confined work locations.

Hurontario Street Pedestrian Tunnels over C.P.R. is an excellent example of the saving of time, space and ultimately money.  As depicted in the adjacent picture, Soncin had match cast tunnel sections adjacent to the track location where they are to be seated.  During the pre-determined installation period of 16 hours, Soncin had a 450 ton crane and a 650 ton crane mobilized to erect the precast sections at both rail approaches. Time and space management was critical in the successful completion of this project.  Soncin completed the work in 15 hours.
